SMN North Jazz Band Segment from Spotlight |

Over the past three years, the Jazz Ensemble has traveled to San Diego, Dallas and St. Louis. They have participated in many festivals and received numerous awards. In addition, over the past 3 years, 5 jazz ensemble members have gone on to major in music and continue playing in jazz ensembles.

Jazz Ensemble (Top Group) |
This ensemble is chosen by audition in the spring semester of the previous year. The jazz ensemble performs frequently and student must have an excellent understanding of jazz style and a high level of musical skill. This class meets meets fourth block all year.

Jazz Band |
This jazz workshop is open to all band students interested in learning more about jazz. Students in jazz band need not audition. This class meets during seminar (block VIII) all year. |
Jazz Combos and Small Ensembles |
The jazz combos and small ensembles meet outside of class (or during
seminar) throughout the year. These ensembles will meet around
once a week and perform throughout the fall and spring semester.
